Vandana Shiva is an Indian scholar, environmental activist, and anti-globalization author who has devoted her life to promoting sustainable agriculture and biodiversity conservation. She has founded several organizations including Navdanya, a network of seed keepers and organic producers, and has authored over 20 books on food, agriculture, and globalization. Shiva is also known for her activism against genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and has been a vocal critic of large agribusiness corporations. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work, including the Right Livelihood Award (also known as the "Alternative Nobel Prize") in 1993.
