Scaling Back to Grow Forward

SCALING BACK TO GROW FORWARD

An Important message from our (re)learning program

As we approach our organization’s 15th birthday, our team continues to evolve in pursuit of a world filled with inspired people, clean beaches, and healthy coastlines. Our (re)learning program has long focused on sharing our experiences with plastic pollution. That’s why we’ve expanded our focus and deepened our commitment to place-based learning through our Ahupua‘a Program! This initiative embraces outdoor education as a way to connect students with stewards in their community who are actively engaged in caring for their ahupua’a. Together, we build meaningful relationships with the natural world and contribute to the restoration of this special ‘āina. Although our small team has limited capacity to offer this program widely, we invite you to follow its progress by exploring the link here!

To focus on this growing program, we’ve had to temporarily scale back some of our other offerings. We sincerely apologize for not being able to schedule educational events outside of our Ahupua’a Program at this time, mahalo for your understanding!

In the meantime, we invite you to check out our DIY Cleanup Kit Program!

We’re excited to scale up our annual (re)learning Tours! These FREE, hands-on presentations bring environmental learning to schools ahead of our major cleanup events—offering students a chance to explore local challenges and be part of community solutions. This year, we’re doubling the impact by extending tours to two weeks! Here’s a peek at what’s coming up:

  • October 20th to 31st: Ahead of the Kaimukī Cleanup on November 8th
  • April: Earth Week Events (Location TBC)

Teachers interested in participating can fill out this typeform to join our email list. Sign-up details coming soon—we look forward to connecting with you and your students!

While we may not be able to join you folks in person right now, we hope these resources continue to support and inspire your efforts to care for coastlines! We’re always working behind the scenes to create and gather helpful tools, so be sure to check back on our website in the future for new resources and updates as we continue to learn and grow alongside our community!
